Sunday stash #17

For some time now I seem to have been on an unintentional fabric diet. It may have been my subconscious screaming "there's nowhere to store more fabric!" or perhaps "you've got enough to do already!" but I seemed to shy away from new purchases.

Well, no longer! I have broken that famine with the fabric equivalent of a giant Devils food cake.

First up, a FQ bundle of Cotton and Steel's Black and White collection from Fat Quarter Shop. I've got a thing for low volume and this just ticks the boxes for me.

Next, two fat quarter bundles of Skolepos by Katarina Roccella, again from Fat Quarter Shop. FQS divided the collection into "land" and "sea" and I must confess I prefer the dark drama of sea over land. 'Twas ever so.

Finally from FQS, two fat quarter bundles of Birds and Bees by Tamara Kate for Michael Miller. Again the bundles are divided into "lavender" and "coral" collections and I prefer the lavender slightly. How cute are these birds?!

I love how FQS package fabric for international deliveries. They squeeze them into little Plastic A4 bags so you can get more in a prepaid envelope. This makes storing the bundles easier as they'll stack nicely in a drawer.

In contrast, Massdrop send fat quarters in little bricks which makes stacking harder but they sit better on shelves. This bundle is Inked by Lynn Krawczyk for Red Rooster. Those colour are so saturated!

There are still lots of items on my "buy before August" list so I'll take the remaining list along to Festival of Quilts with me. Where I've noticed that Bloc Loc are going to be exhibiting. Yay, maybe o can cross a few long term items off my list!

Sunday Stash #1

I actually haven't bought that much fabric this week due to the car situation (sob!) but, as this is my first Sunday Stash post, I think I can be excused for talking about older items in my stash?

First up is my Josephine by French General FQ bundle.

I'm terrible about seeing fabrics, loving them but not buying them when they're first released. Then when I finally do decide I want them, they're sold out. There must be a term for that (other than "ineptitude"!).

I fist bought a half yard length of one of the fabrics from the range from Heath's Country Store but stupidly didn't buy the whole range. Plush Addicts to the rescue! Now I have a lovely bundle ready to go.

Whilst I was in Missouri I also picked up a layer cake of Mustang by Melody Miller. I love the arrow shafts and bumblebees!

Finally for this week I have a blue and cream Fairy Frost jelly roll by Michael Miller. I think this is my first stash item with metallic elements and I'm going to be interest to see how it translates into a lone star quilt.

Happy Sunday!

The fabric stash that ate the world!

Ok, so this sounds like a B movie title but it's also a fairly accurate description of the fabric which seems to be taking over my sewing room.

I recently bought some extra storage (that extra suitcase from Missouri Star Quilt Co really held a lot of layer cakes and jelly rolls!) and it spurred me to try to sort out my stash. It soon became clear that I can basically survive without buying any more fabric for a year. Or more. Maybe a decade. Seriously, I could open a shop with just the amount of Kona snow yardage I own.

Being on a fabric diet very similar to being on a food diet - you know that you're doing it for your own good and that you'll feel better in the long run but....oh but I want to cheat so badly!

On my "I don't need it but I want it" list is Aloha Girl by Fig Tree Quilts

Black and White by Cotton and Steel (those hares!)

Clementine by Heather Bailey

and finally Feed Company by Sweetwater

Yeah, the diet's going to go great...
