Hello - yes I'm still alive!

I know, I know - it's been an age since I posted. 4 and a half months in fact. But nothing having to post over the winter was such a relief that I thought I'd take a little break. I'm not sure how often I'll post - I guess when I have something to say and/or show.

Vermont in November was lovely - still green and gold in places but torrential rain in others. I had great fun but didn't visit any quilt shops whilst I was there. I did take some pics though.

Lake Champlain is beautiful.

I said "goodbye" to my beloved Bovinity Divinity at the Ben and Jerrys factory. And said "hello" to a gorgeous brownie brown ale reserve ice cream. Yum!

I also bought far too many candles. Oops.

On the quilting side, I finished the Fat Quarter Shop Snapshots quilt along.

Finally finished the Social Butterfly quilt using Flutterberry fabric.

I was brave and quilted it with Aurifil 50 weight rather than my usual Isacord and things went ok. Apart from going backwards, which consistently broke the thread. Apparently Naomi the Janome doesn't like quilting backwards.

I did feathers in the butterflies, swirls in the background and a swirl border design in the border.

It now all washed and ready to go to its little owner. And before she graduates from college too!

I've now moved on to trying to finish the Eclipse quilt and am almost there. I'm determined to finish more projects then I start this year, if only to clear some space in the sewing room. Anyone joining me for a year of finishes?!

  1. What amazing quilts - they're both beautiful. Love the coloured quilting on the butterflies - well worth the effort. I'm definitely up for finishing stuff this year too!

  2. I LOVE both of your finishes! Beautiful! My Janome gets picky on thread. It loves aurifil but I have never tried Isocord. I might try some soon! Those butterflies are so fun and springy! :-) Enjoy your Valentine's weekend!

  4. Love those butterflies! Joined a Work in Progress challenge at my lqs for this year. One month is gone and I didn't get the job done. Ahh all, there's still two weeks this month to try and get one finished.
